Designer Ramy Brook Sharp is the perfect fashion industry insider to tap for expert insight. Her namesake brand, Ramy Brook, is known for its sophisticated and playful approach to dressing, and she can tell us what makes a look both elevated and exciting, with a touch of statement mixed in. So JCK reached out to ask what Brook Sharp found fashionable at this year’s Met Gala.

Jewelry brightened every outfit, she says, and she watched the red carpet in particular for the diamonds and gemstones of every color. But the style that stood out the most was on certain celebrity heads.

“This year’s headpieces felt like a full moment,” says Brook Sharp. “Last year was all about pins and brooches, but this took it somewhere new. I love seeing how they keep pushing jewelry to the next level, every single time.”

It also was a night for the statement necklace, she adds. Her favorite look probably was Queen B, aka Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, who wore Chopard and was nothing short of fabulous, Brook Sharp says.

Here is a look at what else made JCK’s collective brain click this week.
