Pinterest Introduces AI-Powered Auto-Collages

In advance of last week’s 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Pinterest piloted an auto-collage feature that allows advertisers to turn their existing Pinterest product catalog into thousands of new shoppable collages in minutes. Pinterest may release this new AI-powered capability, which it showcased at the Cannes festival, to the public.

“Auto-collage was born out of the Pinterest Ad Labs program that launched last year, where we innovate new generative AI products that help brands stay ahead of the curve,” said Julie Towns, Pinterest vice president for product marketing and operations, in a statement. “The auto-collages tool is an exciting leap that harnesses AI to instantly transform how brands turn their product catalog into fresh creative that resonates with Gen Z and beyond.”

Collages are a way that many users—particularly Gen Z, according to Pinterest—engage with content on the platform, so they make an effective tool for advertisers to reach more customers. Auto-collages curate, cut out, and group together product images into shoppable visual content, based on existing collages with strong user engagement and products similar to those that users have saved on their boards.

Instagram Announces New Creative Capabilities

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said the platform is “investing in creativity more…than ever before” as it turns 15 years old this year.

In a post on Insta owner Meta’s blog, Mosseri discusses creative enhancements, including the introduction of trial reels, which lets users share a reel with non-followers to gauge how it will perform, and additions to the Edits app for videos. Most notable, though, is the ability to rearrange the order of posts on one’s grid, a feature that has long been demanded by users.
