PDPaola Debuts Fine Jewelry With Actress Kelly Rutherford as Its Swan

PDPaola introduced its latest fine jewelry with a diva-worthy event April 4 in New York City featuring actress Kelly Rutherford, the brand’s ambassador for a new capsule collection that uses 18k gold and lab-grown diamonds.

Rutherford’s elegance and regal presence felt like the right tone for PDPaola, says Paola Sasplugas, cofounder and creative director of the Barcelona-based business.

“We’ve admired Kelly Rutherford for a long time for the authenticity and grace she radiates, both on and off screen,” Sasplugas says. “She embodies the timeless values we wanted this collection to speak to.… It felt like the right moment to align with a voice and face that could represent those values on a global scale.”

Sasplugas describes the Rutherford capsule as a new era for PDPaola and says the actress’ style, spirit, and sense of self mirror what fine jewelry stands for at the brand: refined, powerful, and enduring.

“This collection is rooted in subtlety and movement—what we’re calling fluid elegance,” says Sasplugas. “It’s expressed through sculptural curves, undulating silhouettes, and our bespoke half-bezel setting that create the illusion of floating diamonds.”

With these new pieces, PDPaola is exploring a more poetic, elevated form of storytelling through jewelry, according to Sasplugas.

“It felt like a natural progression,” she says. “Our community has grown with us, and we saw a desire for something that honored PDPaola’s signature modernity while offering the timelessness of fine materials. This collection is about creating heirlooms for a new generation—pieces that feel personal, wearable, and meaningful.”

Sasplugas adds: “Lab-grown diamonds are aligned with our values—innovative, responsible, and future-facing. For us, it’s about celebrating beauty that doesn’t compromise on ethics or quality. We love that lab-grown diamonds offer the same brilliance and durability as mined diamonds while giving us the creative freedom to explore new concepts, like movement and light play.”

PDPaola’s event with Rutherford was held at its West Village store in Manhattan. Attendees could try on the new fine jewelry pieces, look at the marketing visuals starring Rutherford, and snack on a swan-shaped cake created by food artist Laila Gohar.

Rutherford was a muse for PDPaola as she embodies enduring sophistication, according to brand cofounder Paola Sasplugas.

The advertising campaign includes a portrait of Rutherford as a kind of queen, a nod to her socialite role on Gossip Girl. She also is seen with a swan to reflect the collection’s gracefulness.

In 2025, PDPaola plans to add retail locations and grow in other meaningful ways, says Sasplugas, who notes that she’s already had a remarkable experience building a jewelry company.

“PDPaola started as a personal creative project, and it has evolved into a global brand without losing that sense of intimacy and intention. Every collection is a chapter in our story—rooted in emotion, inspired by real people, and designed to feel like an extension of self,” she says.
