With a trio of scents, Mimi So has entered the fragrance market, an expansion the jewelry designer feels was destined as she prepares for her company’s 30th anniversary.
“Looking back at 30 years, launching this fragrance is a love story of dedication, passion, and devotion to our brand. This is a new chapter, and it only gets better,” So says.
Perfume was a natural extension of So’s business, she says, since she considers jewelry a “second skin.” The three fragrances of Mimi So New York’s eau de parfum evolved from three of her jewelry collections, and they share the collections’ names: Piece, Wonderland, and Jackson.
So worked with two perfumers, Jérôme Epinette (of the French fragrance group Robertet) and Arielle Le Beau, to develop the scents, which retail for $285 per 50 ml bottle. A Discovery Set of small versions of all three fragrances is available for $60.

“I’ve always seen jewelry as a symbol of empowerment and an expression of how life can and should feel—a way to invite others into my world and offer them a sensory piece of my journey,” says So, who established her brand in 1998 but has been making jewelry since 1993.
She thinks of both jewelry and fragrance as a way to tap into one’s memories. So grew up on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and recalls looking out of her childhood window at the busy city—a memory she channeled into the Piece collection’s iconic Swing necklace.
And now into the Piece perfume, too. The fragrance starts with citrus, moves into florals, and ends with a warm amber finish, So says. Think notes of pear, tangerine, and bergamot, followed by orange blossom, lily of the valley, and jasmine, then a bourbon vanilla.
Her Jackson eau de parfum features citrus, peach, gardenia, and sandalwood with a whisper of cotton candy, So tells JCK. And Wonderland opens with florals and settles into oak moss, soft musk, and amber.

Packaging for the fragrances ties back to So’s time at Parsons School of Design, where she studied the Bauhaus movement. The bottle is made of glass and metal, and reflects her minimalist jewelry aesthetic. It comes in a box embossed with three rectangles, which represent the past, present, and future, So says. (Those words appear on the bottle top as well.)
In So’s past, her notable accomplishments include having her jewelry worn on Sex and the City and, in 2007, being the first female fine jewelry designer inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
With the introduction of her perfumes, So joins several other jewelers that have added fragrance lines in recent years, including Briony Raymond, whose eponymous eau de parfum came out in 2025; Jennifer Fisher, who introduced her My Scent brand in 2022; and Mikimoto, which partnered with Scent Beauty in 2020 to create a pearl-inspired fragrance.
