Introduced during the current Paris Haute Couture Week, the L’éclat collection adds bold color combinations to archival Mikimoto designs to express the feeling and essence of light, the heritage brand said.
With a name that means light and brilliance, L’éclat comprises 60 new jewelry pieces, boasting not only the cultured pearls for which Mikimoto is famous but also rare colored gemstones. The new collection represents energy, optimism, and inner strength, according to the over 130-year-old company.
L’éclat’s standouts include several large-scale jewels meant to evoke beams of light. One is the Solaire collar necklace, which has a 104.52 ct. tourmaline at its center. Akoya cultured pearls cascade in diagonal lines and are accented with sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds.
Another important piece is a 12-row akoya cultured pearl necklace, featuring three-dimensional light-inspired motifs. Each side has a 14 mm white South Sea pearl as its centerpiece, along with additional akoya cultured pearls and diamond and mother-of-pearl accents. Its coordinating ring showcases a 19 mm white South Sea pearl at its center.

The L’éclat collection also includes a series of Supernova rings, inspired by the burst of energy released during a star’s final moments. Mikimoto interpreted that through a combination of white diamonds, yellow diamonds, and pink sapphires.
Also notable are the L’éclat brooches, which were designed to evoke shooting stars. One has a 18.14 ct. morganite surrounded by akoya cultured pearls and diamonds; another holds a 28.2 ct. blue tourmaline, accented with akoya cultured pearls and yellow sapphires.
A showstopper among the brooches recalls the famous van Gogh painting The Starry Night, with a 14 mm golden South Sea pearl at the center and accents of lapis lazuli, turquoise, mother-of-pearl, diamond, blue tourmaline, purple sapphire, and demantoid garnet. There also are brooches inspired by van Gogh’s Sunflowers and two pins referencing Monet’s Water Lilies.
