Share

Jewelers of America has elected three new members to its board of directors: Amanda Coleman-Phelps of Nelson Coleman Jewelers, Lawrence Bock of Bachendorf’s, and Caryl Capeci of Starboard. The three were elected at JA’s annual general meeting on Oct. 26 and introduced at its board meeting the following day.

Bock is the president and third-generation owner of Dallas-based Bachendorf’s, which operates four boutiques in Dallas and Fort Worth. He joined the company’s parent, the Harry Bock Co., in 1982 and has served as its president since 2000. Bock was inducted into the National Jeweler Retailer Hall of Fame in 2011.

Capeci serves as senior vice president of fine jewelry, watches, and global marketing at Starboard. She previously was president of Hearts On Fire and North American CEO of Chow Tai Fook, and began her career in advertising and marketing with De Beers. She has also served on the boards of the American Gem Society and Diamonds Do Good.

Coleman-Phelps is president and CEO of Nelson Coleman Jewelers in Towson, Md. In addition to overseeing the family jewelry business, she is involved with its Chris Coleman Community Commitment, a program that develops monthly partnerships with charitable organizations.

“We are delighted to welcome Amanda, Caryl, and Lawrence to our board,” JA president and CEO David Bonaparte said in the announcement. “Each brings valuable expertise and a unique perspective that will strengthen our leadership.”

The new directors replace Robert Marks of Rogers Jewelers, who rotated off the board, and Julie Keeney, who left following her retirement from Fred Meyer earlier this year. Matthew Rosenheim of Tiny Jewel Box currently serves as JA board chair.

Founded in 1906, Jewelers of America represents jewelry retailers and suppliers across the United States and provides education, industry advocacy, and other resources for its members.
