Hey, everyone. Before I start, I’d like to mention a new feature I hope to add to this blog, called “Meet the Miner.” This would involve talking to people who work in the artisanal sector, digging up materials like diamonds, gemstones, gold, and platinum.
I have already thought up a bunch of questions regarding working conditions, pay, safety, etc. But I’m wondering if any of you had anything you would want to ask an artisanal miner. This feature isn’t meant to be an argument for or against artisanal small-scale mining (ASM). It just aims to ensure the miners’ voices are part of the dialogue. We hope to get honest answers that cover the good, the bad, and the ugly.
If you have anything you wish to ask, or think you can help facilitate this, please write me at rbates – at – jckonline.com.
