Elmwood’s will put a 30.1 ct. emerald-cut white diamond ring at the top of its Fine Jewelry auction on Nov. 11. The lot is expected to achieve between £900,000 to £1.2 million ($1.2 million–$1.6 million).
The stone—rated G for color and VVS2 for clarity—is held in a plain 18k white gold setting. The ring is a UK size M½ and weighs 12.7 grams. Emerald cuts are known for stepped facets that create a mirror-like play of light. A private collector is the consignor, and a facsimile GIA report accompanies the lot.
The sale follows a high-profile result in the spring. On March 17, Elmwood’s sold a 26.36 ct. round diamond for £1.009 million (about $1.35 million), topping its estimate of £800,000 to £1 million. The house says that stone was the biggest white diamond offered in Britain in more than 10 years, and it points to a 26.27 ct. stone at Sotheby’s in 2017 as the previous comparable. The new diamond is 3.74 cts. heavier.
“This is an exceptionally impressive diamond, not only for its remarkable 30.1-carat size but also for its attractive G color and VVS2 clarity,” said Joe Kendrick, Elmwood’s head of sale, in a statement. “White diamonds of this scale are extraordinarily rare and to be offering another stone of this caliber just eight months after our record-breaking sale in March is particularly exciting. The emerald cut gives the diamond a wonderful presence, allowing its size, clarity, and elegant proportions to take center stage. It is a remarkable opportunity for collectors seeking something truly special.”
Elmwood’s was founded in 2017 and is based in London’s Notting Hill.
