Bidding Heats Up for 5 Standout Timepieces at Phillips New York

Share

For collectors chasing the best of independent and heritage watchmaking, Phillips’ fall online sale is already proving fiercely competitive.

Held in association with Bacs & Russo, Phillips Watches Online: The New York Sessions Fall 2026 opened for bidding Oct. 1 and ends Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. Eastern, with auctions closing at one-minute intervals.

The 88-lot sale is the highest-value online auction ever organized by the house’s New York watch team. Among the lots are timepieces by F.P. Journe, Patek Phillipe, Rolex, A. Lange & Söhne, and more.

Three timepieces have already (at press time) far eclipsed Phillips’ estimate—a sign of sustained appetite for top-tier watchmaking following a spring season in which Phillips’ watch sales totaled $235.5 million.

Voutilainen

Leading the sale is a Voutilainen 28Sport Limited Edition (pictured at top), one of just eight made in stainless steel and believed to be one of only two with an onyx center dial, framed by a blue guilloche hour track.

Offered by its original owner who bought it in 2021, bids for the timepiece have already nearly tripled the auction house’s high estimate of $240,000. At press time, the top bid was at $700,000.

F.P. Journe

F.P. Journe Accounts for the sale’s other two breakout lots.

Lot 40, a F.P. Journe lineSport Centigraphe Souverain

A virtually unworn 2025 lineSport Centigraphe Souverain, in a hammered platinum case and bracelet, measures time to one-hundredth of a second. This watch has climbed 3.5 times its low estimate of $60,000 during live bidding.

F.P. Journe Octa Luna in Pink
Lot 4, F.P. Journe Octa Lune in Pink & Salmon

Also in the auction is an F.P. Journe 2022 Octa Lune, which pairs pink gold with a salmon dial—a color combination the auctioneer says is seldom seen.

At press time the pink watch had attracted a dozen bids, sailing close to twice the auction house’s high estimate of $120,000.

Patek Philippe

Lot 50, Patek Philippe Ref. 5270J

Among the heritage offerings, a fresh-to-market Patek Philippe reference 5270, the brand’s first perpetual calendar chronograph with a fully in-house movement, arrives as a complete set from its original owner.

Bidding remains within its $80,000–$160,000 estimate, as of press time.

Klimt Atmos: a timepiece not for the wrist

Perhaps the most surprising object up for auction isn’t a watch at all.  It’s a clock that comes with one of art history’s most famous embraces.

Lot 39, Jaeger-LeCoultreAtmos Marqueterie “Gustav Klimt”
Lot 39, Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos Marqueterie “Gustav Klimt”

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Atmos Marqueterie “Gustav Klimt” (estimated at $70,000–$140,000) sits inside a cabinet whose panels re-create Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss, the gold-robed couple he painted in 1907.

Its panels are marquetry, a kind of wood inlay in which pieces of different woods are fitted together like a jigsaw to form the image, with touches of gold leaf nodding to Klimt’s gilded original.

Push a hidden button and the lovers part to reveal the clock, which never needs winding. The Atmos runs on tiny shifts in room temperature. The clock comes with a mother-of-pearl dial, a cushion-cut yellow sapphire, and a diamond-set moon. Phillips says it’s the first of the edition to come to auction.
