Sotheby’s has appointed Geoffrey Hess senior vice president and head of watches, Americas.

In his new role, Hess will work with colleagues in the Americas and internationally to accelerate growth in Sotheby’s watch category. He is based in New York City.

Most recently, Hess was an international specialist at the watch department for Phillips New York. Prior to joining Phillips, Hess was CEO of Analog Shift, a platform for vintage timepieces, until it was purchased by Watches of Switzerland. Before that, he served as president of Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry and owner of Giuliani Partners.

Hess is also a founder of Rolliefest, an exclusive invitation-only gathering of Rolex collectors, which will take place in September in New York City.

“The watch market is one of the most global and fastest-growing collecting categories,” said Josh Pullan, head of Sotheby’s global luxury division, in a statement. Sotheby’s worldwide auction watch sales achieved a record $179 million in 2022, a 22% increase from 2021, Pullan said.
