Rio Tinto has unveiled its first “significant” piece of Argyle pink diamond jewelry since the 2020 closure of the Argyle mine in western Australia.
The Argyle Romantica (pictured) is valued at 6,000,000 Australian dollars (about $3.95 million). It comprises 3.42 carats of pink, red, and blue diamonds from the mine—which breaks down to one 0.75 carat fancy red diamond, two fancy vivid purplish-pink diamonds, and two fancy deep pink diamonds. The diamonds are showcased in a setting with 1.11 carats of smaller blue and pink Argyle diamonds.
The ring was created by Singapore-based rare gem specialist John Glajz and will be showcased in Sydney and sold through Sydney jeweler J. Farren-Price as part of its 80th anniversary celebration.
