Le Vian’s Antique Cushion Arrives at Kay as Old Diamonds Cuts Trend

Share

Le Vian’s new Antique Cushion Cut collection for Kay Jewelers puts juicy vintage-looking gemstones in position to take advantage of this season’s larger jewelry trends.

In its 2027 forecast, Le Vian had centered on personal style and vintage—including natural gemstones cut in the fashion of old mine diamonds—as big inspirations for luxury in the next year and beyond.

The broader Le Vian Antique Cushion Collection features 17 in-store styles that will be available in Kay locations starting mid-October, with additional designs available online. The collection ranges in price from $1,499.99 to $4,999.99.

Antique diamond cuts like old mine and old European have trended in recent years. One reason is because of their unique shapes as they were cut by hand, creating character that separates them from synthetic or lab-grown diamonds.

Another reason is that celebrities, including Taylor Swift, are wearing these looks. Swift selected what is thought to be an elongated old mine–cut diamond in her engagement ring, which was designed by Kindred Lubeck’s Artifex Fine Jewelry.

The Le Vian Antique Cushion Collection features eight natural gemstones selected for colors that evoke the palette of rare natural fancy color diamonds, including Nude Quartz, Mint Quartz, Honey Quartz, Chocolate Quartz, Sky Topaz, Deep Sea Blue Topaz, Sea Aquamarine, and Rose Morganite.

The Antique Cushion Cut has a larger facet, unique linear culet, broad crown facets, and longer, mirrored reflections from pavilion step cuts, Le Vian said in a statement. Clients also can find a hidden halo pattern designed with diamonds and gemstones in key pieces.

“Our late father encouraged us to intern in our stone-cutting shop as teenagers, and he took us to gem mines to teach us the mine-to-market journey. Those experiences, together with our design and gemological studies, have fueled the passion and point of view that led to the innovation behind the Antique Cushion,” CEO and designer Eddie LeVian said in a statement.

“The designs demonstrate a notable shift in Le Vian’s aesthetic as we strategically evolve in a way that attracts the next generation of fine jewelry collectors,” LeVian added.
