Favorite January Jewelry Moments on Instagram

I know we’re just halfway through January at this point, but there have been so many good jewelry moments on Instagram, I might burst if I had to wait until the end of the month. It’s been a big couple of weeks for jewelry, with plenty of photographic evidence to prove it.

First, there were the Golden Globes on January 6. That means I stalked stylist and makeup and hair artists’ Instagrams, hoping for behind-the-scenes peeks at the jewels (I was not disappointed). Then came one of the most glamorous weekends for the jewelry industry, with the GEM Awards on Jan. 11 and last night’s Critics’ Choice Awards—I found my fair share of jewels and dresses (and men’s getups, too) to appreciate.

With the new year comes the unveiling of new creations by talented designers, as many are preparing for their trips out to the desert in advance of JCK Tucson and Gem Week in Arizona. It’s no surprise to hear that there are so many really, really good new creations to be seen, and if you think things couldn’t possibly get more imaginative, think again. It’s such a beautiful thing, to be endlessly astounded by creativity. Some designers have even shown me new ways to style jewelry, and I’m very excited to try them out!

Celebrity and public figure (aka influencer) posts spoke volumes about current trends (so many barrettes now! Yay, hair jewelry!) and introduced me to a few jewelry designers that I had yet to become familiar with. Isn’t that one of the best parts of Instagram, discovering new people? You could truly go down a rabbit hole for hours. I was also excited to see January Jones give a shout-out to Anthony Lent as the creator of her new favorite ring (pictured at top)!

It’s been a strong start to 2019 for jewelry, and I’m pumped about the year ahead. I have a feeling there’s going to be a handful of really exciting renewed trends coming our way (more hair jewelry, please!) and endless inspiration on how to style the pieces we already own (based on what I’m seeing so far, I think more is more for 2019). For retailers, this offers a great opportunity to breathe new life into your current stock and thoughts on how to display it.

And speaking of hair jewelry, the January/February cover of JCK magazine says all there is to say about that. Isn’t it divine? I’m beside myself with admiration. Bravo to the team!
