On the hunt for two-tone jewels, I thought ZAHN-Z’s Diko Mou ring would fit in great. And then I saw the back of it.
Okay, now I’m love. Here is this already spectacular-looking ring (again I find myself wondering why I don’t have a Victoria Beckham-esque collection of engagement rings) made unique with its special, just-for-the-wearer touch.
A enamel mosaic in green and blue wraps around the ring’s shank, tucked safely within the palm of the person who closes their hand around it. While the ring certainly isn’t the first piece of jewelry to offer a hidden detail, it breaks the mold.
“Diko Mou in Greek means mine,” says designer Hiba Husayni. “I remember I was with my Cypriot Greek friends and we were admiring the toi et moi trend, and I got the idea of making my own. I wanted the ring to feel like a gentle breeze, and we came up with the name Diko Mou.
“The original design featured two diamonds set side by side. However, this custom Diko Mou was meant to be a solitaire style. We added the bubbly bezel and personalized the mosaic work on the back in blue and green enamel, and we added a little sparkle of emeralds. Since the customer is from Qatar, she wanted something to represent her culture, and that was the perfect touch.”
The ring is fully customizable, including choice of diamond, which is set tilted to flow along the organically curved band. If one wanted to go the design’s original route, the ring can have two diamonds, for that coveted toi et moi look.
