Britt’s Pick: Ana Katarina’s Pretty In Pink Ring

Do you ever catch sight of something that seems to have its own theme music? Even though there’s no actual sound coming from said object, it’s like your own personal Spotify was somehow turned on.

Queue up “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” That’s the sticky-sweet tune that seems to accompany Ana Katarina’s Pretty in Pink ring to holiday perfection, a whimsical music box bringing these sparkling gems to life.

The ring reminds the designer of “effervescent joy,” according to her website, and that makes two (and likely far more) of us. A colorful exuberance bubbles from this piece, happy with its assortment of pink and orange, dancing with hand-carved gold beading all around.

Though, it’s not all soft and sweet. With inverted gemstone spikes—pink and orange sapphires—the ring signals a sense of strength that warns of its power.

“The Pretty in Pink ring is an homage to the beautiful sea urchin and its totem of intuition and evolution and invokes sensuality and feminine power,” reads the brand’s description of the ring. “The center pink tourmaline connects us with inspiration and happiness. The pink sapphire brings romance and new relationships, while the orange sapphire enhances sexual and artistic powers.”

The ring, which features the word LOVE on its underside, would be a welcome sight anytime, but it’s in especially good company given the recent announcement of Pantone’s Color of the Year, Viva Magenta. With a rich berry hue that’s feminine and fearless, its center gemstone provides the invigorating vibe anyone would want to enter 2023 with.

Ana Katarina offers the design in a number of other color combinations, like this equally gorgeous, cooler-hued version featuring a tsavorite garnet center. How is one to choose?
