From the Court to Couture: Bijules Puts a New Spin on Sports Jewelry

It’s always a good time to be a New Yorker, but now is an especially good time to be a New York Knicks fan. Game 4 of the NBA Finals takes place tonight at Madison Square Garden, and if the Knicks can defeat the San Antonio Spurs, they’ll move within one game of securing their first NBA championship since 1973.

Along with the thousands of fans packing watch parties, or just going about the day in a Knicks jersey, jewelry brand Bijules is showing team spirit with the Spin necklace, from its new Shoot It Hot collection.

The necklace features a freshwater pearl hand-painted by Japanese nail artist Minami in the Knicks colors, orange and blue. An Instagram reel posted this week shows the jewel on a journey around New York City—swiping through a subway turnstile, riding the train to Madison Square Garden, moving along crowded midtown sidewalks, checking out a hot dog stand.

“As a New Yorker, I’ve always been inspired by the city’s ability to turn obsession into culture,” says Bijules designer Jules Kim. “Right now the Knicks are giving New York something to rally around, and the sport pearl collection translates that energy into fine jewelry. It’s not merchandise; it’s a piece of design that captures a moment in the city’s history through the language of pearls, gold, and sport.”

Kim debuted the Shoot It Hot collection at the recent Couture show. It includes several earring styles with the Knicks basketballs, along with the same jewelry pieces with soccer, volleyball, golf, or tennis balls instead. Between the rise of sports culture in fashion and the growing appetite for kinetic jewelry, Bijules’ collection taps into some of the industry’s most relevant conversations.

But Shoot It Hot goes beyond the whimsy and nostalgia often associated with sports. Kim says it serves as a tribute to the women who shape sports culture in countless ways: mothers shuttling their children to practices and games, athletes competing on the field and court, and those working behind the scenes and cheering from the sidelines.

Kim’s Instagram reel is playful and charming, and it may very well leave viewers coveting the new collection. Yet it also demonstrates the power of jewelry storytelling. It speaks to community, belonging, and the ways personal style can express the identities we hold closest.

No matter the outcome of tonight’s game, the Spin pendant remains a forever treasure. “I see the Knicks sport pearl the same way I see a great vintage concert tee or a lucky charm—it means something because of the story attached to it,” says Kim. “You can wear it during the playoffs, but long after the season ends, it becomes a reminder of where you were, who you watched with, and what New York felt like at that moment.”
