Pandora Suffers Data Breach, Reports Say

Share

Jewelry giant Pandora has notified customers that hackers broke into its systems and stole some customer data, according to reports in tech and business publications.

“We are writing to inform you that Pandora has experienced a cybersecurity attack, where some customer information was accessed through a third-party platform that we use,” said an email posted on Forbes.com. “We want to reassure you that the attack has been stopped, and as a result we have further strengthened our security measures.

“Only very common types of data were copied by the attacker—specifically, name and email address,” the note said. “We’d like to stress that no passwords, credit card details, or similar confidential data were involved in this incident. We have carried out extensive checks and to date we cannot see any evidence that this data has been shared or published.”

It advised customers to be on the lookout for “phishing attempts from third parties pretending to be associated with Pandora.”

The company didn’t respond to a request for comment by publication time.

Pandora is just the latest retailer to have suffered a data breach. In the past few months, both Tiffany and Cartier have had to send customers similar notices.

Jewelers’ Security Alliance president Jennifer Mulvihill has warned that cybercriminals are increasingly targeting luxury brands, and gave jewelers tips on how to protect themselves here.
