VicenzaOro Hopes to Set Optimistic Tone as Holidays Approach

With renewed energy, VicenzaOro September promises to bring more than 1,000 exhibiting brands together for education, networking, and conversations highlighting the latest trends in gold, watches, and sustainable jewelry, organizers say.

Created by Italian Exhibition Group, VicenzaOro runs Sept. 9–13 at the Vicenza Exhibition Centre. It also includes the VO Vintage show, which runs Sept. 9–11. Scheduled exhibitors include Roberto Coin, Damiani, Fabergé, Yoko London, and Sutra Jewels.

VicenzaOro exhibitor numbers and influence is close to its pre-2020 numbers, and the enthusiasm for the event is stronger than ever, says Marco Carniello, global exhibition director, Jewellery & Fashion, for the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG).

“At VicenzaOro, we are constantly evolving and finding new ways to bring value to our community,” Carniello says in an email interview. “It is the greater showcase of Italian creativity and know-how in jewelry and gold manufacturing with the very best of Made in Italy production from the main national manufacturing districts.”

Exhibitors say they hope their positive selling trends will continue into the VicenzaOro September show, leading to a strong holiday sales season.

Carniello says the event also will herald the return of the Design Room, the IEG’s project featuring “the most sought-after international independent designers in high jewelry.” Plus, IEG is launching the highly anticipated Trendbook 2021+ and an international design competition with HRD Antwerp.

“Our exhibitor numbers are very close to 2019 with more than 1,000 from 30 different countries. The Made in Italy offering will be even greater than in 2019, and our top companies from Turkey, Spain, Germany, and the other main production districts will be in attendance,” Carniello adds. “Asia will also be returning with a stronger presence in 2022, with companies from India and the Far East, Hong Kong, China, and Thailand.”

Carniello also says vintage watch and jewelry lovers won’t want to miss the 3D edition of VO Vintage, which features top Italian and international traders of vintage watches and jewelry.

VicenzaOro’s exclusive buyers’ program will feature new services and solutions. For example, the VO Luxury Hubs include areas to relax and network, happy hour events, and VIOFF get-togethers in downtown Vicenza, where participants can “enjoy the beauty of the history center of the city, arts, culture, fashion, and entertainment,” Carniello says.

Participants and exhibitors will see both beautiful jewelry and the beauty of Italy, says Marco Carniello, global exhibition director, Jewellery & Fashion, for the Italian Exhibition Group, noting that Vicenza possesses great history, art, fashion, entertainment, and culture.

For those looking to up their sales or marketing games, there are events and conversations around topics such as who is buying jewelry now and how technology is changing the way people make their jewelry purchases.

One program highlight will be the Sept. 10 Trendvision seminar, which will highlight how the gold jewelry industry can best use technology including the metaverse, blockchain, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and more. The goal is to show how the jewelry industry can use these technologies now and in the future.

Another series of talks will focus on how women are taking on a greater role in buying jewelry and precious stones for themselves. These two talks organized by CIBJO on Sept. 11 center on marketing diamonds to women and on global jewelry supply chains.

Exhibitors including Picchiotti and Ania Haie say they are looking forward to the in-person conversations and networking.

“At VicenzaOro this fall, we expect the strong 2022 business trend that we have been experiencing to continue, as many of our international retailers are expected to attend,” Maria Carola Picchiotti, marketing director for the brand, says in an email interview. “We feel there is a nice excitement for in-person trade events, especially this year.”

Andy Maine, director for Ania Haie, says she considers VicenzaOro to be one of her favorite international shows.

“Many European customers come to this show to buy for the holidays and to see all the new collections,” Maine says in an email interview. “The show also has many key U.S. buyers attending as well as all our Italian customers who prefer the VO September show, rather than the January show, because September begins their key selling time leading up to the holidays.”
