Tiffany & Co. this week reopened its boutique at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., as a California-themed destination and a Landmark-style concept store joining together high jewelry, art, and design.
The 15,000-square-foot store in the Orange County luxury mall was designed by revered architect Peter Marino, based on his work at Tiffany’s New York City flagship, the Landmark. Marino also used the concept in designing the Tiffany locations in Milan and Tokyo that opened last year.
Tiffany’s new Costa Mesa store has a textured facade crafted with the metal hammering technique used by 19th-century Tiffany silversmith Edward C. Moore—a tribute to Moore’s acclaimed work but also a nod to Tiffany’s expertise with precious metals in its jewelry.

Inside, Tiffany features a digital art installation of California vistas—including portraits of the nearby coastal cities Newport Beach and Laguna Beach—created by artist Oyoram.
On the main floor, a custom light sculpture by architect Hugh Dutton illuminates some of Tiffany’s best-known designs, such as HardWare, Bird on a Rock, Knot, Sixteen Stone, T by Tiffany, and Lock by Tiffany.
Other prominent artwork includes Tiffany Miraculous, Tiffany Smashing, Tiffany Adorable, and Tiffany Dish, all by Damien Hirst and found in the main entrance to the World of Tiffany area. The All About Love salon displays Color and Light by Michelangelo Pistoletto, while the watch salon has Water Lilies After Monet by Vik Muniz.

Nearby, a Tiffany Studios lamp and Tiffany Cosmos by Urs Fischer are featured in a high jewelry private salon, giving customers yet another look at the maison’s craftmanship and legacy.
Tiffany pays homage to California with some objects on display, among them a morganite specimen from Mesa Grande, Calif. (on loan from a private collection), and jewelry pieces from the Tiffany archives featuring kunzite—a gem first identified in California, which has been an important source of the stone.
