Taylor Custom Rings Goes for Romantic Elegance in First Showroom

Share

Having recently opened Taylor Custom Rings’ first showroom, wife-and-husband owners Ashley and Jerry Taylor say the leap from completely digital to in-person sales has amped up their ability to get to know their customers and offer a wider range of services.

The Taylor store opened in July inside the Beacon La Costa, a luxury shopping and community center, at 7740 El Camino Real in Carlsbad, Calif. The company had sold only online since the Taylors founded the business in 2015.

“While we have really honed the virtual customer experience over the past eight years to be as robust as it can possibly be, there are times when someone just needs to come in and try on a ring. Now we can facilitate that, and so much more,” Ashley Taylor says.

Taylor’s new Southern California showroom has an elegant interior with light woods, gold accents, and soft colors.

The relationships the Taylors and their staff have developed with customers since the store opened have been energizing, she says. “We saw it as an opportunity for all of our customers, both in-person and online, to get to know us and our brand better,” Ashley says. “Just by walking in, you can tell immediately that we care deeply about design, that we are welcoming and inclusive, and that you are about to have a really beautiful experience.

“Selfishly, I love meeting our customers in person and working with our local team. Being with great people lights me up, and where jewelry design meets the stories of real people—that’s where my work starts to feel like magic,” she adds.

The store has allowed Taylor Custom Rings to add services it could not provide as a digital brand, Ashley says. For example, the company’s master jeweler is on site at the store, where she can weigh in on nuanced questions in person and set diamonds or resize rings that are needed urgently or even the same day.

Cofounder Ashley Taylor touts little things, like fresh flowers on the counter, and expanded services, such as an in-store master jeweler, at Taylor Custom Rings’ first brick-and-mortar location.

“One of the sweetest things we’ve experienced since opening the showroom is people who have followed us for years on Instagram, who happen to live near the new store, coming in and meeting us for the first time. It’s been so touching to connect with those long-time supporters—a little emotional, actually,” Ashley says.

The Taylors worked with Jenna Walls of Walls Design Co. to create the showroom’s interior and exterior look, focusing on an elegant feeling, from the custom fluted cases to the elaborate trim details throughout. Warm, bright colors—blush pinks and creamy whites, as well as teal in the private showroom’s wallpaper in the private—are balanced by light wood with gold accents. The arches of the velvet-curtained doorways are mirrored in the silhouettes of the cases, windows, and woodwork on the walls.

“When I walk into the showroom, I feel like I’ve stepped into a little slice of heaven,” Ashley Taylor says. “It’s really special. It’s so bright and beautiful.

“We designed the space to feel romantic, elegant, and sweet. It’s immaculate, but also so welcoming. Everyone is smiling, and there are fresh flowers on the counter. Who wouldn’t want to walk into a place like that?”
