When it comes to accessories, jewelry has its way of making the wearer feel certain things. Beautiful, sexy, cool, loved, cherished, remembered—a special jewel is capable of holding so much meaning, including any (or all) of these vibes.
Another accessory that has seriously influential power? Sunglasses.
Sure, sunglasses can hide tired eyes, disguise a person’s face, protect one’s eyeballs from the sunshine (their No. 1 purpose, obviously), or complete an outfit. But they are second only to a treasured piece of jewelry in the way they can make you feel.
Combine sunglasses and jewelry, and we’ve got a winner—how they play off each other can be magical. Would Audrey Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s ensemble be so iconic if it hadn’t been composed of both the sunglasses and the pearls? I think not (and the croissant; one mustn’t forget the importance of good pastry).
Which is why it was exciting to hear about Suzy Levian’s addition to her line of fine jewelry, accessories, and decor: eyewear inspired by jewelry and colored gemstones.
Levian—daughter of Abdulrahim Ephraim LeVian, founder of the family-owned Le Vian jewelry company—founded her own business that has evolved to include an array of price points and materials to appeal to a wide audience of women.
“I strive to be the designer who creates head-to-toe pieces that every woman will want to own, including jewelry, handbags, accessories, and now sunglasses,” said Levian in a statement. “I have always loved being able to dress up and down, and many times that includes wearing shades, depending on my mood and what I choose to wear on any given day.”
The new line of sunglasses includes 25 styles, priced at $150 each. They feature classic eyewear shapes—cat-eye, aviator, oversize, square—along with Levian’s favorite jewelry design elements: pink sapphires, brown diamonds, botanical jewelry.
Each pair of sunglasses carries Levian’s signature “secret diamond” crystal, to encourage women to “discover the diamond within themselves.” The collection is available now.
