Susan M. Jacques, GIA’s president and CEO, will receive the Gem Award for Lifetime Achievement next March.

The 22nd annual Gem Awards, presented by Jewelers of America, will take place on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

Jacques was selected by the Gem Awards committee for her years of industry service and leadership. She was appointed GIA president and CEO in January 2014. Before that, she was president and CEO of the Borsheims jewelry company in Omaha, Neb., for 20 years and reported directly to Warren Buffett.

She has also served as honorary chair of the Friends of the Diamond Development Initiative and as a member of the board of advisers to the Black in Jewelry Coalition and the boards of Jewelers of America, Jewelers for Children, Jewelers Vigilance Committee, the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and Creighton University in Omaha.

In May, Jacques won the American Gem Society’s Robert M. Shipley Award.

Jewelers of America will announce other Gem Award categories and nominees in the coming weeks.
