Jewelers of America (JA) has announced that its 2023 Gem Award for Lifetime Achievement will be presented posthumously to Steven Kaiser (pictured).

Kaiser, the founder of Kaiser Time and former president of Baume & Mercier USA, died in May.

He served on the boards of directors of many organizations, including Jewelers for Children, Jewelry Information Center, Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC), and the Jewelers’ Security Alliance. He also served as chairman emeritus of the Gem Awards Committee.

In March, the JVC gave Kaiser its Stanley Schechter Award for his commitment to industry ethics.

The award will be given out at the 21st annual Gem Awards, which take place on March 17, 2023, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. More information can be seen here.

“There is no greater honor than being able to give the Gem Award for Lifetime Achievement to Steven Kaiser,” said Jewelers of America president David Bonaparte in a statement. “Steven was an industry icon who never stopped supporting trade organizations, watch companies, and the individuals who shape them. Steven always made time for others, and we look forward to celebrating his legacy with all who loved and respected him.”
