September Calls For Sapphires!

Share

Lucky are those who are born in September. They get to celebrate their day during some of the most temperate weather of the year and have something to look forward to in the transition from summer to fall. Many will also agree that they’ve been blessed with possibly one of the best birthstones (maybe aside from April babies and their diamonds): sapphires.

Besides their overt beauty, sapphires are traditionally believed to symbolize truth, faithfulness, and nobility. They’re often associated with royalty; perhaps one of the most recognizable and recent examples is Kate Middleton’s 12-carat oval sapphire and solitaire diamond engagement ring that previously belonged to Princess Diana. Another iconic sapphire is the 62.02 ct. rectangular step-cut Rockefeller Sapphire, which was acquired by John D. Rockefeller Jr. in 1934 from an Indian maharaja and has since been recut and remounted over time.

So in the spirit of September (whether your birth month or not), we’ve rounded up some of the most exceptional sapphire pieces on the market. From a vintage, Cartier perched-bird brooch to a contemporary (but clearly vintage-inspired) sapphire baguette ring and Duchess of Cambridge-esque earrings, there’s a sapphire style for everyone.
