Important Stones From Phillips’ New York Jewelry Auction

Share

On Thursday, auction house Phillips is hosting its New York sale featuring 156 jewelry lots. Among them are signed pieces from jewelers such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, and Harry Winston, as well as vintage and antique works from French makers including Suzanne Belperron and Lacloche. The selection, coming to market for the first time from private collections, highlights every important era in jewelry design with items dating back to the 1700s.

“Following an exceptional year for jewels at Phillips, I am proud to close out our spring season with such a strong selection of pieces,” Sara Thomeier, Phillips’ head of jewels for the Americas, tells JCK. “The market for rare and important stones, as well as for signed jewels, has been met with tremendous international demand, and our June sale delivers across the board. From a private collection of 70 jewels that showcase over three centuries of jewelry design to a unique set of Belperron jewels made in 1951, the auction offers rare-to-market material across a breadth of tastes and price points.”

Headlining the sale is a 17.62 ct. emerald-cut diamond and platinum ring that’s estimated to go for anywhere between $850,000 and $1,250,000, as well as a mixed-cut sapphire and diamond ring with an estimate of between $600,000 and $800,000. Other notable pieces include a vintage Suzanne Belperron suite of brooch, ear clips, and ring, and a dazzling Lacloche necklace with 54.7 carats of diamonds. Below is a closer look at those pieces.
