Jewelers of America, AGA Offering Virtual Conventions

Share

Jewelers of America has opened registration for its third annual national convention, which will be held virtually on July 19 and 20.

The two-day Jewelers of America Virtual National Convention has the theme “Coming Into Focus” and is free for all Jewelers of America members.

“COVID-19 is keeping us from coming together under one roof,” said David J. Bonaparte, JA president and CEO, in a statement. “However, that won’t stop us from uniting the entire industry for two great days of interaction, education, and networking.”

The convention will kick off with a live keynote presentation from nationally renowned speaker Marilyn Sherman (pictured) titled “Back to the New Future: Front-Row Strategies for Success.”

Sherman, author of four motivational books including Is There a Hole in Your Bucket List?, will share stories about how to ignite passion for what you do, offer strategies to take success to the next level, and teach attendees how to focus on energy management, not time management.

Three additional keynote speakers and other panels are planned.

Also holding a virtual event this summer is the Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA), which will hold its annual Gemological Education Conference on June 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. Presentations will focus on diamonds and the diamond market. Registration is open to everyone.

Speakers will include Michael Goldstein, an authority on antique-cut diamonds, who will cover the growing popularity of repurposing old and antique cut diamonds; Dr. Thomas Hainschwang, the director and cofounder of GGTL Laboratories Liechtenstein, who will discuss his latest research on color treatments of diamonds; and Clare Blatherwick, an auction house veteran and founder of her own jewelry business, who will relay her experience with the effects of the pandemic on the high-end diamond jewelry auction market.

Registration and more information on the AGA conference can be found here.
