A Midwestern jeweler is proposing a new kind of Galentine’s Day event aimed at clients of any relationship status: the Right-Hand Ring Society.
Elaine Jaeger, founder and lead designer of the brand Elaine B, is hosting these Valentine’s-adjacent events at her stores in Ferndale, Mich., in Metro Detroit on Feb. 5 and in Cincinnati on Feb. 12.
“The Right-Hand Ring Society is an invitation to women to celebrate their achievements and mark moments in life on your own,” she says. “So often we are waiting. Waiting for something to happen or for someone to tell us that it is time. The concept of the ‘right-hand ring’ is saying that you can choose your own destiny.”
Both parties will highlight Elaine B’s custom ring designs and feature a special release of one-of-a-kind and limited-edition styles, Jaeger says. Champagne and dessert will be served, and attendees can mingle while learning about the brand’s designs and jewelry philosophy.

The Right-Hand Society events will also include free engraving and a hand “selfie” booth for social media posting. Elaine B has created a quiz for clients to find the right right-hand ring for them and will offer one-on-one consultations on custom jewelry.
Elaine B has asked people to RSVP via the Eventbrite invitation platform, to get them to sign up early and to make the parties feel a bit more exclusive—like a secret society, Jaeger says.
Everybody is welcome to attend, including singles, engaged couples, and married folks. The Right-Hand Ring Society events are a time for supporting one another, celebrating yourself or your personal milestones through jewelry, and shopping for something that sparkles for the right hand, Jaeger says.
She adds that the Elaine B team had fun coming up with the Right-Hand Ring Society’s vibe. The look? A color palette of fog (gray), dune (beige), brown sugar, and true white. The scent? Aspen + Fog from Calyan Wax Co. The music? Instrumental Beyoncé and power-positive songs. The dress code? “Anything goes,” says Jaeger—the more creative, the better.

Jaeger has a reputation locally as a creative jeweler: She was one of the first in Metro Detroit to offer permanent jewelry, and she has made jewelry with granite salvaged from the landmark Michigan Central Station (before it was renovated by Ford Motor Co.).
She says Galentine’s Day felt like an ideal occasion to host events given Feb. 13’s growing popularity as a day for friends to hang out before Valentine’s Day, which conveniently falls on a Saturday this year.
“This season, this year—and every year—we all need warmth and community,” Jaeger says. “The concept of Galentine’s Day is so special for us to celebrate because it’s a moment to tell your friends that you love them. Tokens of love can come in so many forms—handwritten notes, little gifts, or, in this case, by planning a night together.”
