Heritage Auctions Fall Sale: Sept. 29, 10 a.m. CT (in person)

Dallas-based Heritage Auctions holds its Fall Fine Jewelry Signature Auction on Sept. 29. Headlined by a 1.21 ct. fancy orangey-red diamond, the live sale features a broad mix of lots, including solid gold Rolex watches, strands of Mikimoto pearls, and diamond jewels galore.

For its fourth anniversary, nonprofit Gem Legacy, which is dedicated to supporting vocational training, entrepreneurship, and community development in East African colored gemstone mining communities, is holding an online auction. Proceeds from the sale—which features jewels donated by Greenwich St. Jewelers, Luxe Rox, Omi Gems, and Parlé Jewelry Designs, among others—will fund the charity’s initiative to help prevent silicosis, a deadly lung disease prevalent among tanzanite miners caused by the inhalation of silica dust, which is present in the tanzanite’s host rock.

JIS Miami Fall Show: Sept. 30–Oct. 3 (in person)

The JIS Fall show returns to Miami Beach, Fla., this week. In addition to the more than 600 domestic and international exhibitors participating in the show, the four-day event will see the return of the Plumb Club pavilion. A new lineup of special events and activations will include a headshot studio, where attendees can use a styling bar to get camera ready and have a headshot taken free of charge. And the Product Showcase Runway, located at the front of the show floor, will show visitors the newest trends and top-selling items that can be purchased at the show.

Get pierced with London jeweler Hannah Martin and LA-based piercer Brian Keith Thompson at a Gem X piercing party on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, in advance of the spring 2023 debut of Martin’s new piercing concept, HMp.

Platinum Guild International USA has teamed with the Japanese internet behemoth Rakuten to discuss performance marketing in the jewelry industry, ahead of the upcoming holiday season. Tony Duda, Rakuten Advertising’s senior director of business development, and Dave Gill, VP of consumer insights, will lead the webinar, focusing on key vertical data, market trends, and consumer buying behavior.

Centurion Top Watch Aftermarket Watch Conference: Sept. 28–30, 11 a.m. ET (online)

In this two-hour Zoom conference, attendees will learn about key trends in the vintage and secondary watch market from speakers Robert Velasquez, a watch expert with a background in retail, wholesale, and auction sales, and Ariel Adams, founder of A Blog to Watch, one of the leading voices in watch media. In addition to discussing the market’s evolution, speakers will offer predictions about where the industry is headed.

The 24 Karat Club of Southern California Dinner Dance is back! The event, which takes place at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown LA, will honor Susan Jacques, president and CEO of the Gemological Institute of America, with the Excellence in Service Award; Omi Nagpal, founder of Omi Gems, with the Lifetime Achievement Award; and Tanya Parikh, owner of Janvier, with the Rising Star Award.
