You can catch the tail end of New York Fashion Week by checking out the spring-summer 2023 coverage at your media outlet of choice (we’ll be glued to Vogue Runway). (And, for a sense of where we are with fall 2022 fashion trends, make sure you’ve read JCK’s special report.)
Beyond this, you’ve got the Select Jewelry Show and a Gem X excursion in Dallas, a master class and exhibit in New York City, and some plum Plumb Club content to help you gear up for the fall/holiday selling season.

Gem X club members will tour “Cartier and Islamic Art: In Search of Modernity” at the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA), which explores how Islamic art has inspired the French maison’s designs over the last 120 years. The visit will culminate in an evening museum talk featuring Marion Fasel, jewelry historian and founder of The Adventurine, and DMA cocurator Sarah Schleuning. RSVP here. (The exhibition is open to the public through Sept. 18.)
Plumb Club webinar: Sept. 14, 1 p.m. ET (online)

Presented by the Plumb Club in connection with the Platinum Guild, “Unleashing the Untapped Power of Wedding Bands” is an expert panel discussion with Kevin Reilly (senior vice president of Platinum Guild USA), Severine Ferrari (founder and editor-in-chief of Engagement 101), and Craig Rottenberg (president and co-owner of Long’s Jewelers) that will highlight the opportunity and financial benefits of selling three rings to every couple—not merely the engagement ring—while providing language tips to retailers who want to communicate to couples in a more inclusive manner. Register here.
92NY Workshop With Alexander Blank: Sept. 16, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. ET (in person)

As part of his jewelry artist in residency with the 92NY, Munich-born Alexander Blank will be teaching a daylong Carving Alternative Materials class that shows students how to transform various materials such as cork, polyurethane foam in varying densities, wood, and more into beautiful objects. Fee: $150; register here. The event is concurrent with an exhibition of Blank’s work on view through Sept. 17 inside the 92NY’s Hall of Mirrors on the first floor of its location at 1395 Lexington Avenue in New York City.

The Evolving Consumer” featuring guest Paco Underhill, author of a number of best-selling business books dedicated to the science of shopping, and an environmental psychologist, retailers will gain a better understanding of how to cater to—and convert—younger, savvier consumers. The “Russian Sanctions Update, August 2022” episode addresses up-to-the-minute info from Jewelers Vigilance Committee deputy general counsel Sara Yood regarding the sanction’s time line and how to handle diamond sourcing concerns as the Russian war with Ukraine continues.
