JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week of May 3

All eyes are on tomorrow’s Met Gala, which celebrates the Costume Institute exhibition “Costume Art.” The dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” asks guests to treat the body as a canvas for sculptural, artistic couture. We can’t wait to see how they accessorize. Meanwhile, art jewelry lovers should take note of a museum benefit in NYC this week, while gem lovers may want to look into last-minute flights to Geneva(!).

The Dallas auctioneer’s spring sale includes headliners such as a Cartier ring with a 20.03 ct. fancy intense yellow diamond along with pieces designed to bring levity to an otherwise serious environment. Case in point: a pair of Cartier duck brooches dating to the early 1950s. “One is dressed as a cowboy duck, the other—an even rarer piece—wears a Native American headdress,” writes JCK’s Annie Davidson Watson.
