JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week of Feb. 26

Share

It’s Paris Fashion Week. If you’re in the City of Light, be sure to check out the attendant jewelry events that have popped up around the catwalk shows (featuring designer favorites such as Brent Neale, Jacquie Aiche, and Gigi Clozeau, all exhibiting this week by appointment only). If you’re stuck at home, slogging through the final weeks of winter, we’ve got other ideas (see below!) to keep you busy.

NYC Jewelry Week co-founder Bella Neyman leads a five-week course on “Studio Jewelry: From Mid-Century to the Present Century” through March 27 on the 92nd Street Y’s online educational platform. Over the course of three lectures and two guest speakers—including deep dives into the work of Alexander Calder, Sam Kramer, Margaret de Patta, Art Smith, and Ed Weiner—Neyman will explore how the studio jewelry movement coalesced and grew as artist jewelers, inspired by current trends in fine art and design, developed their wearable art form. ($170)

Showtime’s provocative documentary on the mined vs. lab-grown diamond debate, Nothing Lasts Forever, is now streaming. JCK news director Rob Bates found aspects of the film “misleading,” but by all means, judge for yourself.

Top: 2.5 ct. oval amethyst and 0.18 ct. t.w. diamond pendant in 14k yellow gold on 16- to 18-inch 14k gold cable chain, $1,455; Artistry Ltd.
