JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week Of Feb. 20

Share

The webinar struggle is real. You may not have time to catch all of this week’s virtual information sessions, but do your best to join at least one. Whatever your passion (colored stones, carbon neutrality, jewelry marketing, we could go on), the slate of events has you covered. And even if you don’t intend to bid, set aside some time to admire the designs of Gérald Genta over at Sothebys.com. Compared to the timepieces he designed, his watercolors are a steal!

Sotheby’s Gérald Genta: Icon of Time Auction: Closes Feb. 24 at 7 a.m. ET (online)

In the decade since his passing, Gérald Genta’s already-legendary reputation has only grown more mythical. Revered for his groundbreaking watch designs, including the 1972 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the 1976 Patek Philippe Nautilus, Genta maintained a substantial personal archive of designs, now on the block at Sotheby’s. The sale comprises 100 original designs, from his most iconic creations to some never-before-seen private commissions. Each watercolor painting will be paired with a unique NFT that includes a digital replica of the design, a certificate of authenticity, and for select pieces, never-before-seen multimedia content.
