Inhorgenta Munich Postponed 2 Months

European jewelry trade fair Inhorgenta Munich, originally scheduled for Feb. 11–14, is postponed to April 8–11 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will still be held at the exhibition grounds of show organizer Messe München.

The decision was mainly driven by travel restrictions for overseas visitors, organizers said.

“We had many discussions with our exhibitors before making this decision. And we want to ensure more clarity for them, as well as for visitors,” said Klaus Dittrich, chairman and CEO of Messe München, in a statement. “Our customers and partners are still very interested in trade shows. The industry network wants to meet. With this new date, we provide a more reliable alternative for this.”

Messe München has said it has “a sophisticated protection and hygiene concept” that allows trade fairs to be successfully held under pandemic conditions.

Because of the spread of the omicron variant, several overseas trade shows have been postponed, including Vicenza and IIJS Signature. The industry’s traditional 24 Karat Weekend has also been postponed to March.

Other shows, such as the AGTA’s Tucson GemFair and the Gem and Jewelry Exchange (GJX), plan to go on as scheduled.
