Qurate Retail, owner of both QVC and HSN, is merging the two shopping channels’ operations—forcing the closure of HSN’s 70-acre campus in St. Petersburg, Fla., its home for more than four decades.
By the third quarter of this year, HSN will relocate to QVC’s headquarters in West Chester, Pa. A spokesperson told the Tampa Bay Times that jobs will likely be shed, though some employees will be allowed to relocate or work remotely. At press time, HSN does not appear to have filed a WARN notice.
Qurate said in a statement it “remains committed to the HSN brand as an important part of the company’s portfolio, and HSN and QVC U.S. will continue to maintain distinct brand voices and focus on growing their distinct customer bases.”
It also announced executive changes. Mike Fitzharris, who’s been with the company since 2012, has been named chief operating officer. In his new role, Fitzharris will lead content production and broadcast for QVC U.S. and HSN, along with Qurate’s operations, people, and technology. He will continue as president of the QVC U.S. brand, a post he’s held since March 2022.
HSN president Stacy Bowe has been given the additional title of Qurate’s president of U.S. merchandising. In that position, Bowe will lead planning, programming, and brand marketing for both channels.
QVC purchased longtime rival HSN (formerly Home Shopping Network) in 2017. The next year, their parent company changed its name from Liberty Interactive to Qurate Retail Group. Last November, Qurate said it would again rebrand, as QVC Group, sometime in 2025.
