Highlights Of Hindman’s Upcoming Important Jewelry Auction

Share

On May 17, Chicago-based auction house Hindman will offer a treasure trove of exquisite fine jewelry pieces in its live and online Important Jewelry sale. Many of the auction’s projected top lots highlight colored stones, such as a Padparadscha sapphire ring that showcases a distinct and rare, tangerine-pink jewel that has appeared more on the public’s radar since notables such as England’s Princess Eugenie received one for her engagement ring. This particular piece is expected to go for anywhere between $35,000 and $55,000.

There are also more traditional sapphire pieces on offer, such as a 7 ct. Burmese sapphire and diamond ring with an estimate of $40,000–$60,000. An even larger 10.12 ct. sapphire and diamond ring has a slightly lower estimate of $30,000–$50,000, and there are similar styles by jewelers including Cartier, F.J. Cooper, and more. Among the selection of emerald pieces, an emerald and diamond pendant with a removable brooch fitting by Jacques Timey for Harry Winston is one to watch. As classic as Harry Winston gets, this one-of-a-kind design (with an estimate between $35,000 and $55,000) and its 7.3 ct. Colombian emerald was crafted to last a lifetime. Another emerald ring of note is an antique toi et moi design with a mirrored diamond design that’s expected to sell between $25,000 and $35,000.

And, of course, there are plenty of other pieces from premiere jewelry houses such as Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and others. Below is a closer look at some of the auction’s star pieces.
