Dune Jewelry Has Gifts for the Beach Bum

I first wrote about Dune Jewelry back in May, when I was introduced to the beachy jewelry brand on its way to exhibiting at JCK Las Vegas. As the summer months burgeoned, the company’s sand-kissed jewels felt just right for the season ahead.

Now that it’s winter, that sentiment still holds true. With the holidays just around the corner, and many of us—at least on the East Coast—are freezing our tail feathers off, images of the beach are very welcome, indeed.

So, raise your hand if there’s a beach bum in the family. You’ve got both hands in the air, right? I definitely do. Shoppers searching for the perfect gift to treat their castle-building cousins and rip-curl-riding brothers will be hard-pressed to find something more ideal than a Dune Jewelry piece, though you don’t have to be spending your days lying on a beach towel, slathered in suntan lotion to appreciate one, either.

I can personally attest: None too beachy keen, I’d much rather spend my time exploring a new locale than lying in a swimsuit and soaking up rays. Still, there’s a sentimental factor at play. My own version of a pendant from the company features a sampling of sand each from Wrightsville Beach, N.C., and Reynisfjara, the black sand beach in Iceland. You couldn’t get me to stay still too long in either location—if only to take in the sights, both amazingly beautiful in their own ways—but they fill important roles in my scrapbook of life. Thus, not a beach bum, but still way into the sandy trinkets.

Customers can visit their local partner retailers or shop online for custom pieces before their holiday shopping time runs out. But for those retailers thinking about taking on some new brands for 2019, know this: Though beach-themed jewelry of any kind will no doubt do well in coastal towns and tourist destinations, your store doesn’t need to fit that description. Dune offers a series of elements—crushed gemstones; dirt and flowers from places like the U.S. National Parks; sand from beaches and also from golf banks and favorite resorts—appealing to a wide range of shoppers vying for that tear-jerking, all-the-feels, this-is-our-special-place gift. Or self-gift. Why not? I would.
