Much has been made of the intersection of fashion, jewelry, and sports this season, with a growing roster of designers offering their own interpretations of athletic culture. Last week we highlighted Bijules’ Shoot It Hot collection and its basketball-inspired jewels (including a particularly timely Knicks version). This week we turn our attention to a different sport—golf—and a pendant that carries meaning far beyond the fairway.
Ukrainian fine jeweler Dukachi has released a limited-edition pendant that celebrates the traditions of golf through a distinctly Ukrainian lens. At first glance, the design depicts a gold golf club cradling a diamond-studded ball. But, as with the most compelling jewelry, the storytelling lies in the details: The satin-finish golf club shaft is sculpted in the likeness of an ear of wheat—“one of the most sacred symbols of our culture,” according to statement to JCK from Dukachi cofounders Anna and Yelyzaveta Knyzhenko.
“For centuries, bread and wheat have symbolized fertility, abundance, home, and unity for Ukrainians,” the sisters said. “Bringing the wheat ear together with the primary attribute of the game—the golf club—felt completely natural. This design represents a beautiful intersection where two narratives meet: global golf culture and Ukrainian cultural heritage.”
Dukachi is making only 59 of the pendants—a reference to “Club 59,” the rare achievement of shooting below 60 on an 18-hole championship course, a benchmark of extraordinary precision and composure. By restricting production to the same number, Dukachi imbues the jewels with a comparable sense of rarity and accomplishment.
“Golf is one of the most elegant and sophisticated sports in the world. In creating this piece, we wanted not only to express our love for golf but also to showcase a distinct Ukrainian presence in the sport through symbols that resonate deeply with our people,” said the Knyzhenkos’ statement.
Dukachi’s pendant has earned recognition from the Ukrainian Golf Federation, which will give two of them as competitive awards in the upcoming season.
