Douglas Hucker has retired as chief executive officer of the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), effective April 22.

The New York–based trade organization announced Hucker’s retirement on April 23, highlighting his leadership and service to ICA and the jewelry industry as a whole.

Hucker headed ICA for nearly four years, leading the group through the pandemic recovery period and other global market challenges, it said.

“It has been a privilege to serve the ICA and its members. I am proud of what we have accomplished together during a period of significant change,” Hucker said in a statement.

“These achievements reflect the collective effort of a committed board, dedicated members, and a passionate global community. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such talented and driven individuals. I am confident the association will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.”

Prior to joining ICA, Hucker served as CEO of the American Gem Trade Association for close to 25 years. Earlier in his career, he held positions at GIA.

The International Colored Gemstone Association said it hopes to announce Hucker’s successor soon.

“Doug has made a significant contribution to ICA during a pivotal time for our industry,” ICA president Damien Cody said in a statement. “His experience, professionalism, and commitment have helped strengthen the association and position it well for the future. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and service.”
