At the jewelry shows in Las Vegas earlier this month, diamonds and yellow gold were the undisputed power coupling. We saw bold gold dome rings peppered with diamonds, mixed cuts of colorless rocks strung like lights on ’80s-esque chains, and gem-set hard bangles galore. Elongated cuts, such as movals and marquises, were plentiful, but so, too, were basic round gems that seduced us with their brilliance.
With gold prices hovering at historic highs—more than $3,300 per ounce the last time we checked—much of the talk centered on the precious metal’s new “flex” factor, but as far as we’re concerned, gold pales when it’s not accented with at least a sprinkling of ice.
Thankfully, the high-end designer community agrees with us. In each of the brand-new designs featured here, the diamonds are natural, the gold is (almost exclusively) 18k, and the style is unapologetically optimistic—rising prices and global uncertainty be damned.
