Canadian Jewellers Association Hires Director of Loss Prevention

Kelly Ross (pictured) has been appointed managing director of loss prevention for the Canadian Jewellers Association and Jewellers Vigilance Canada.

The two groups merged in 2017.

Ross has more than 23 years of law enforcement experience as a police officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, where he became a specialist in cases that involved diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals, investigating hundreds of gem-related crimes.

He has also trained hundreds of police officers in dozens of agencies on the criminal use of jewelry materials.

In 2008 he published a book, The Fifth “C”: The Criminal Use of Diamonds. Since 2018, he has been cochair of CJA’s loss prevention committee.
