Britt’s Pick: Mateo’s Aquamarine and Pearl Earrings

Share

If the noteworthy looks on the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet haven’t satiated your thirst for color, allow these earrings to top it off.

With an exquisite emerald-cut aquamarine gemstone as the anchor for each earring, this pair from Mateo achieves impeccable style on so many levels. What better way to usher in March and its dreamy birthstone? In our industry, welcoming a new month is like throwing a birthday party for its signature gemstone.

The earrings are noticeable for their cool blue stars, both aquamarine and topaz, and their design stands out from a crowd of blue-gemmed jewels. Their structural style beautifully demonstrates the in-demand linear looks of the moment, putting pearls to use in a pretty, playful way.

We love a good pearl and color combination (and many designers appear to agree), and these are certainly no exception. The pearl duos adorn each earring in an asymmetrical style, on a diagonal across the diamond-lined sticks that comprise the bulk of the earrings’ shape. Such placement exemplifies the modern treatment of pearls that audiences have grown to love, an affair that will surely continue for years to come.

While the brand dubs these earrings a statement (a title most appropriate), don’t let them be reserved only for black-tie affairs. Yes, there’s something about the classic pearl that lends a dressed-up vibe—and those gemstones are the perfect something blue for a bride—but it would almost be a shame to not wear these gorgeous drops as often as possible, regardless of event or attire. Who needs a red carpet when you’ve got a regular one?
