I can’t believe it was already back in June that I shared an assortment of mermaid jewelry here on JCKonline, which just goes to show that this summer will be a memory before we know it.
It’s natural to look forward to the next thing—that’s why so often we’re urged to “live in the moment”—so if you’re already thinking about the fall, and perhaps even the holidays, you’re not alone. But don’t say so long to summer just yet, and even after you do, don’t discount that mermaid jewelry.
Since you can’t think “mermaid” without thinking “sea,” the fantastical creatures are inherently tied to summer. But, really, these fairy-tale figures swim through the imaginations of people all year long. And, with news of Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, you can expect to see more of the finned human (ish) creatures making the rounds to consumers starting now.
I received these images from KC Designs in response to my previous article about mermaid jewelry, and I was just so delighted to see them. With simple, dreamy silhouettes and colored gemstone and diamond accents, any one of these pendants would make the perfect addition to that neck party—though they’re strong swimmers as stand-alone styles, too.
Most of the pendants even manage to stretch into another category—the most in-demand jewels featuring celestial icons like the moon and stars. They’re playful but chic—these aren’t just pendants for starry-eyed princesses, nor do they insinuate an age limit on their customers. A mermaid can represent so many things, from fantasy to life in the sea, love, danger, strength, and beauty. With all of that, who wouldn’t be tempted to fall in love with styles like these?
