As you take stock of your hoop earring selection for summer—the season never fails to call for them—consider options that are a touch outside the usual form, though no less timeless or versatile.
One such example is this pair of beautifully begemmed earrings by the Austin, Texas–based Nak Armstrong. In summery rose gold with wide, angled curves and a trio of good gemstones, they’re imbued with the designer’s trademark style—tapered baguette stones artfully arranged in a way that’s hypnotically easy on the eyes.
The placement of baguette gemstones in ascending-size order creates the likeness of a leaf—much like that of a fern or the more tropical palm. It’s this layout that has the earrings feeling like they’re exactly what is needed for summer, lifting the spirits with thoughts of warm weather and exotic locales.
Still, the Herringbone hoop earrings aren’t destined solely for summer. A mosaic of two variations of opal—blue Peruvian as well as Ethiopian—mixed with aquamarines, the color combination is an enduring one, meshing well with anything the fashion world might serve us next. And the hoop’s shape, heavy-bottomed and coming to a triangular point closest to the ear, was a sculpted statement even before the gemstones.
In case clients were to seek something warmer, Nak Armstrong also offers the Herringbone hoops in a combination of fire opal and rubellite, a flurry of orange and pinkish/purplish red (a multicolor spinel version is sold out). Both are so good, it’s definitely tough to choose, but imagine wearing both combinations at once, if one were to have the budget? Talk about a look.
