Britt’s Pick: Chris Correia’s 6-Strand Beaded Choker Necklaces

I’m still feeling pretty confident in my statement that orange is the color for summer, despite blue and green always coming through as the dependably demanded hues of the season.

An eye-catching necklace from the New York–based Chris Correia has me further convinced, made with six strands of citrine beads, cinched together with diamonds and platinum.

I could almost be convinced of the influence of another color, however, with this sister design in pink tourmaline. The necklace appears in a quenching shade, and, when paired with the orange version, it’s like a tropical sunset that’s irresistible this time of year.

Both necklaces are in a choker style, somewhat reminiscent of that stacked look referenced here on On Your Market back in April. Certainly statement-making, the jewels’ gemstones are more colorful than the mostly metal pieces referenced here.

And yet another trend to tick off the summer must-have box: beads. Here’s your very upscale version of the arts-and-crafts look, its materials—platinum, diamonds, close to 200 carats of colored gems—elevating the everyday with major heirloom factor.

Chris Correia started her eponymous brand in 1984, then took a step back to care for her family. It was when the pandemic hit that the designer, who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in jewelry design and sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design, jumped back into the world of jewelry with a complete refresh of her brand and created entirely new collections, many of which are inspired by her New York City home.

You can view available jewels, including an aquamarine collection (a portion of its proceeds goes to protecting the ocean), at the designer’s website.
