In My Dreams, I’m Christmasing With Boucheron

Not the first time I’ve tipped my hat to the Carpenters’ “Merry Christmas, Darling” this season—my taste in yuletide carols tends toward the wistful and sad, and this one’s my favorite.

And my taste in jewels? Well, let’s just say it’s evolved a bit this year, out of necessity—in fact, a year ago, stud earrings and delicate chain bracelets were the furthest thing from my mind.

Still, on this Christmas Eve, my heart is definitely yearning for glamour. For diamonds and gleaming gold. I wish I were clinking flutes of Champagne with my dearest, oldest friends instead of frantically trying to find a generator to save us from the threat of a power outage tonight, which would obviously ruin our plans for Christmas Day.

And I think this is why Boucheron’s holiday campaign is tugging at me a little. It features an international cast of six lovely actress-influencer-model types—Alexa Chung, Nour Arida, Zhou Dongyu, Jung Eun-Chae, Hannah Quinlivan, and Rola—who collectively help convey a story of warmth, frivolity, style, and femininity. Not gonna lie: I want in on this party.

Titled Sharing Holiday Emotions, the video series launched on the brand’s website and social channels in November. In it, the women share some of their memories linked to the holiday season, while wearing jewelry that reflects their individual style and personality (Alexa Chung thanked the brand for not airbrushing out her freckles when she shared part of the campaign on her own Instagram—love that).

Clockwise from top left: Australian-Taiwanese actress Hannah Quinlivan; British model, author, TV host, and creative director of her eponymous label Alexa Chung; South Korean actress Jung Eun-Chae; model and Japanese TV personality Rola; Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu; and Lebanese model-entrepreneur-influencer Nour Arida

Below (and up top), the jewels that each is wearing in the campaign—holiday trimmings of the highest order, you could say. And just in case I haven’t succeeded in planting the sound of Karen Carpenter’s creamy alto on a loop inside your head—and not that you asked—my thoughts on these baubles are, precisely: I’ve just one wish/On this Christmas Eve/I wish I were with you.
