For Bold, Colorful Jewels, See Peridot

Share

Brightly hued attire and accessories are a staple of summer, but after the last several years, we’re not just looking to satisfy our color craving—we want to give it all we’ve got.

Such a sentiment was on display at Las Vegas Jewelry Week, where  big, bold, bright pieces supported jewelers’ predictions that color would be the top trend.

How fortunate, then, that retailers might be putting their best peridot jewels on display this month, in observance of August’s spirited birthstone. If it’s considerable color customers want, peridot has it to offer.

Peridot’s carefree hue won’t be for everyone—its summery shade of green lends a casual vibe that doesn’t play with everyone’s aesthetic—but that’s all the more reason to love it. You don’t often see peridot coming and going, so when it does get noticed, it’s often memorable.

Peridot also has size on its side. Generally less expensive than its colorful counterparts—sapphire or emerald, for example—you can get a larger stone for less, making it perfect for big statement pieces.

The ring category is proof of this—with a large peridot set at the center, a gorgeous green cocktail ring brings cheer to those who wear it.

And while its brightness evokes a casual splendor, peridot can be incredibly luxurious—those rare and juicily saturated stones rival the finest of gemstones, and many designers have recognized that by using peridot in some of their most distinguished creations.
