Despite the fact that I’m not summer’s biggest fan, I love the Fourth of July. I love the festive feeling in the air, the excuse to eat cheap meats on the grill and gorge myself on potato chips (it’s for America), and, if I’m lucky to be in the right place at the right time, I love spending a lazy day outdoors with family. I don’t even need fireworks!
So I had to restrain myself from writing about jewels that are red, white, and blue (not that I don’t love the trio, but I think I probably do it every year, and I wouldn’t dare become too predictable). While the right accessory really does complete your perfect Independence Day ensemble, it doesn’t have to contain all three colors. Actually, I’m thinking that a nice blue jewel will do the trick. It’s regal and bright, and you’re probably thinking about wearing the flag’s colors in your clothing anyway, so a single-color gemstone piece will complement that quite beautifully.
I know, ruby is July’s birthstone—wouldn’t this have been the perfect opportunity to talk about red? But I think the color blue is truly the biggest crowd-pleaser (just for kicks, I asked Amazon’s Alexa to tell me what the most popular color is. Her response: “Lately it’s been all about Ultra Violet”—what does she know?).
So I’m staying true to the blue and found some incredible sapphire pieces to please even those who prefer warmer hues. Enjoy these from July 4th through the fall and beyond.
