Bear Brooksbank Makes Its Long-Awaited U.S. Debut

For Bear Brooksbank, New York has always been part of the dream. Since introducing her brand in 2012, the British jeweler has hoped to make it across the pond—and that day has arrived. The East London jeweler is now making its U.S. debut with The Fall Bride New York, which was founded in London in 2019, serving as its exclusive American stockist.

The partnership brings four of Bear Brooksbank’s Signature rings—some of the brand’s most loved designs, the designer says—to the United States, with prices starting at $10,000. Brooksbank tells JCK that she plans to continue building on the offering until the full selection of Signature rings is available in the United States.

For Brooksbank, New York was the obvious choice, with many of the brand’s American clients hailing from the city.

“New York does nothing by halves; everything is supersized, dialed up, brave, and bold, which deeply appeals to my design ethos,” she says.

Partnering with The Fall Bride, which is located in Brooklyn, was also a natural fit. “The Fall Bride are our neighbors here in London,” Brooksbank says. “I love what Annelise [Sealy], the founder, has created and her flawless taste across the board. We already have lots of client crossover, and it felt entirely right to do this with them. I can’t think of safer hands to be in.”

Brooksbank also sees a natural affinity between the American customer and her approach to scale. In New York, she says, there is “no false modesty or shame in going for it”—an attitude she finds particularly exciting as a designer of “big, chunky, bold designs, which arguably work best on a large scale. This feels entirely aligned with the American approach to life and is very exciting for me.”

Behind those designs is a deliberately hands-on approach to production. Every Bear Brooksbank ring is made in London, where Brooksbank has worked with the same family-owned goldsmithing business since founding the brand. The relationship has become one of the company’s most important assets.

Brooksbank and her team visit the workshop as often as four times a week to oversee the work and finishing. The goldsmiths, she says, have an intimate understanding of how each ring should look and feel and have been teachers and supporters of the brand since its earliest days.

“I credit the harmony with these wonderful makers as the strongest part of the business,” she says.

That long-term thinking extends to how Brooksbank plans to grow the brand. Rather than pursuing rapid expansion, she likens her approach to “The Tortoise and the Hare,” describing her goal as building a small luxury brand that can endure.

“I have always wanted to build a lasting, small luxury brand. A legacy,” she says. “If I get it right, it will be something that my children would have the option of taking on when they grow up. To grow slowly, never losing sight of the quality of the work, the relationships we have built, or the experience we offer our clients—jewelry is all about connection, and I fully intend to create this across the board.”

The U.S. debut is therefore a carefully considered next step for a brand that has spent more than a decade establishing itself in the U.K. Brooksbank describes the company as having been “quietly established for a while,” with a loyal existing clientele. She hopes New York will introduce the brand’s distinctive, supersized approach to bridal jewelry to a new market, while creating crossover opportunities with The Fall Bride’s existing bridal assortment.

For a brand whose philosophy is built around patience, craftsmanship, and long-term relationships, the arrival in New York feels less like a dramatic expansion than a deliberate next step.

All rings pictured are customizable in 18k yellow, white gold, or platinum, with colored gemstones or diamonds. Prices vary, and production time is approximately six to eight weeks.
