Baselworld Exhibitor Gets Full Settlement in Million Dollar Theft

A settlement has been made following a $10 million diamond
theft
at the Baselworld show March 30. Malca-Amit agreed to settlement of the
claim in full, the company announced May 3.

Authorities believe a group of highly organized and
professional criminals stole the diamonds from an exhibitor’s showcase during
show hours.

Shortly after the exhibitor reported the crime, Malca-Amit
representatives and its subsidiary insurance broker MIRA, were on-site to help
their client deal with the aftermath of the theft.

“Never before in the diamond and jewelry industry has there
been such a quick settlement of a claim of this magnitude,” Nigel Paxman, CEO
of Malca-Amit Global Ltd. said in a statement.
