Share

For the first time in three years, the Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA) plans to hold an in-person gemological conference in Las Vegas, just before the JCK Las Vegas show.

The afternoon-long educational event will be held Thursday, June 9, at the Westin Las Vegas Hotel & Spa, beginning at 1 p.m. Pacific Time.

This is the first in-person conference AGA has held in Las Vegas since 2019, and the first in-person conference it’s held since its Tucson conference in 2020.

This year’s event will be diamond-focused and feature the following speakers:

– Martin Rapaport, chairman of Rapaport Group, will discuss the current loose diamond and diamond jewelry market.

– Tom Moses, executive vice president and chief research and laboratory officer for the Gemological Institute of America, and Yun Luo, GIA’s director for metrology and quality control, will detail GIA’s latest research on the effect of fluorescence on diamonds.

– David Block, CEO of Sarine Technologies, will provide a look at artificial intelligence-based diamond grading and Sarine diamond technology.

The conference will be followed by an AGA-hosted cocktail and networking reception.

AGA conference committee cochair Dr. Çiğdem Lüle said in a statement that the AGA is excited to “come together after two years of waiting. We sincerely hope you will join us and bring a friend.”

Tickets to attend the conference and reception are available here.
